Yahoo! Shopping Challenges Shoppers to Name the Ultimate Gift This Holiday Season

Yahoo! Shopping's Ultimate Gift Challenge sweepstakes lets people pick this year's ultimate holiday gift for a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Yahoo! Shopping has unveiled its Ultimate Gift Challenge (http://shopping.yahoo.com/seasonal/holiday/ultimate-gift-challenge), a sweepstakes in which Yahoo! users can vote for their favorite gifts and select the top holiday gift for 2010. Over the course of the six-week shopping tournament, every time people vote in the Ultimate Gift Challenge, they will be entered to win the grand prize drawing of $10,000 at the end of the sweepstakes. Plus, the first time that players vote, they will be entered to win one of five $100 gift cards drawn daily.

The Ultimate Gift Challenge on Yahoo! Shopping resembles a fantasy sports bracket, with the brackets based on four categories: Gifts for Him, Gifts for Her, Gifts for Kids, and Other Gifts. Each category will start by featuring eight products; those products will compete against other products in the same category. At the end of each week, votes will be tallied, and the winning products will move to the next bracket. The competition continues until one product is the ultimate winner.

"Yahoo! Shopping continues to create fun and unique online shopping experiences for our users," said Greg Hintz, head of Yahoo! Listings. "The Ultimate Gift Challenge is just one example of how Yahoo! will be at the center of people's online lives this holiday season."

The eight items per bracket were hand-selected by the Yahoo! Shopping team based on traditional gifts, as well as based on new gift trends--what shoppers are searching for on Yahoo!. People will vote on products such as iPads, video games, diamond jewelry, digital cameras, and more.

No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes or to vote on the products. The sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington, D.C., aged 18 years or older, or at the age of majority at the time of entry. Voting will be open for six weeks, and people can vote once per day in each round of the challenge. The challenge concludes December 12, 2010.
