Yahoo! Launches Yahoo! Korea

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- September 3, 1997 -- Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) today announced the launch of Yahoo! Korea (http://www.yahoo.co.kr), a guide to Korean Internet sites in the native Korean language, Hangul. Yahoo! Korea is the seventh in a series of Yahoo! international properties, including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, UK & Ireland, Australia & New Zealand and South East Asia. Similar to the main Yahoo! site (http://www.yahoo.com), Yahoo! Korea offers users a directory of sites hand-selected and categorized by Yahoo! experts. Users can navigate through the categories for the information they need. Yahoo! Korea launches with more than 15,000 Korean Web sites.

"As one of the global leaders in the Internet space, Yahoo! is continuing to expand its network of properties internationally and tapping into regions with high growth potential," said Jerry Yang, co-founder and chief Yahoo at Yahoo!. "With its high density of Internet penetration, Korea is an ideal market for us to establish a local presence." Yahoo! estimates that there are currently 1.5 million Internet users in Korea as of June 1997. According to Jupiter Communications, there were 3.25 million Internet households in the Asia/Pacific region in 1996, which is projected to grow more than 300% to 10 million households by the year 2000. Online advertising revenue in the area is expected to grow from $2.59 million in 1996 to $300.28 million in 2000.
